If you're looking for evidence-based advice that's tailored to you and your individual symptoms then you're in the right place.

No two women experience the perimenopause or menopause the same way and Dr Duffy firmly believes that individualised support is essential to achieving symptom relief, improved quality of life and enhanced long-term health. With Dr Duffy you can be confident that you will receive the best advice and treatment tailored to your personal needs.

Do you want to know the truth about HRT and if it's the right path for you?

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) refers to the replacement of one or more of the hormones estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. It relieves symptoms of the menopause and can reduce your risk of developing other short and long-term health problems. Dr Duffy will help you discover the true facts about HRT and the benefits and risks based on your own personal medical history.

If you've struggled to get support for your symptoms - and need it ASAP - Dr Duffy can help.

So many women struggle to get the right help, information or treatment from their own GP and suffer with, often debilitating, symptoms for months and even years, during which their health, relationships and careers often disintegrate around them. Dr Duffy will make sure that you receive the very best help and treatment - RIGHT NOW - without the need for a GP referral.

If time and convenience are really important to you, read on...

The coronavirus pandemic has finally made the cost and inconvenience of needing to physically attend an appointment and collect prescriptions a thing of the past; so many more women can now access services that may previously have been out of their reach and we can make sure you receive a consultation at a time and place suitable to you.

Health in Menopause is a private GP led Menopause Clinic in Nottingham where women can self-refer and do not need a referral letter from a GP.

Following the lifting of COVID restrictions, consultations can now take place in person at Quantum House.  The restrictions imposed as a consequence of COVID resulted in all consultations taking place via video, which has been exceptionally well received by patients, who love the flexibility, convenience, time and cost benefits this appointment format brings. As a result, both options will remain available to suit your needs - you can now join Dr Duffy in the clinic in person or via video link from the comfort of your safe space.

The purpose of the clinic is to provide individualised evidence based advice, in keeping with NICE guidelines, to you and other women like you who are navigating the perimenopause or menopause. As a passionate believer in holistic care, Dr Duffy will discuss advice about diet, exercise and other lifestyle measures in conjunction with evidence-based medical therapies to achieve symptom relief, improved quality of life and enhanced long term health.

In keeping with British Menopause Society gold standard treatment, where possible, Body Identical HRT will be prescribed. This is evidence-based, fully regulated HRT which provides the best in treatment with the lowest risk of adverse effects.

Blood tests

For most women the diagnosis of menopause is a clinical one based on age, symptoms and a change in menstrual pattern.  In women aged > 45 years, the diagnosis is a clinical one made by the doctor.  However young women aged < 40 require blood tests to be taken to establish a diagnosis of Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI).  In addition, blood tests may be suggested to exclude other causes for symptoms such as anaemia or an underactive thyroid gland.  This will be discussed in full at the consultation. Some women also request bloods as part of an overall health check and this can be arranged. Blood tests will not be conducted in isolation for women who are not already under the care of Health in Menopause.

The cost of bloods is in addition to the consultation fee and must be paid on the day that the request for the blood test is made. Please ensure that your card details are stored on our system to avoid delay in processing your request.

An appointment booked for a blood test outside of a full consultation will incur a fee of £30.

Blood samples are processed by Nationwide Pathology who offer phlebotomy services at satellite clinics throughout the country to allow easy access to a clinic near you. The phlebotomist at the clinic will charge a fee for taking the blood. This is generally in the region of £30-35 but you will be advised of this when you call Nationwide Pathology.

Within 7-10 working days of your blood sample you will receive an email notification from Heydoc with a link to a shared document which will contain your results along with  Dr Duffy's interpretation of these and what the results mean for you.  You can access this securely on Heydoc by simply entering your date of birth.
