Please note that, unfortunately, medical insurance does not normally cover treatment for menopause care.
For most women the diagnosis of menopause is a clinical one based on age, symptoms and a change in menstrual pattern. In women aged > 45 years, the diagnosis is a clinical one made by the doctor. However young women aged < 40 require blood tests to be taken to establish a diagnosis of Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). In addition, blood tests may be suggested to exclude other causes for symptoms such as anaemia or an underactive thyroid gland. This will be discussed in full at the consultation. Some women also request bloods as part of an overall health check and this can be arranged.
The cost of bloods is in addition to the consultation fee and must be paid on the day that the request for the blood test is made. Please ensure that your card details are stored on our system to avoid delay in processing your request.

Blood samples are processed by Nationwide Pathology who offer phlebotomy services at satellite clinics throughout the country to allow easy access to a clinic near you. The phlebotomist at the clinic will charge a fee for taking the blood. This is generally in the region of £30-35 but you will be advised of this when you call Nationwide Pathology.
Within 7-10 working days of your blood sample you will receive an email notification from Heydoc with a link to a shared document which will contain your results along with Dr Duffy's interpretation of these and what the results mean for you. You can access this securely on Heydoc by simply entering your date of birth.
