Health in Menopause is a private GP led Menopause Clinic in Nottingham where women can self-refer and do not need a referral letter from a GP. At present, as a result of COVID 19 restrictions, all consultations are taking place by video link. Initially apprehensive about this, I have been reassured by women that far from being a lesser experience, they have liked the video consultation as it can be conducted from home with no worries about driving, parking or finding the clinic!
Appointments can be made online or by telephone on 0115 9388828.
The purpose of the clinic is to provide individualised evidence based advice, in keeping with NICE guidelines, to you and other women like you who are in the perimenopause and menopause. As a passionate believer in holistic care, I will discuss advice about diet, exercise and other lifestyle measures in conjunction with evidence based medical therapies to achieve symptom relief, improved quality of life and enhanced long term health.
In keeping with British Menopause Society gold standard treatment, where possible, Body Identical HRT will be prescribed. This is evidence based, fully regulated HRT which provides the best in treatment with the lowest risk of adverse effects.

Please note that private medical insurance does not normally cover treatment for the menopause.
For most women the diagnosis of menopause is a clinical one based on age, symptoms and a change in menstrual pattern. In women aged > 45 years, the diagnosis is a clinical one made by the doctor. However young women aged < 40 require blood tests to be taken to establish a diagnosis of Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). In addition, blood tests may be suggested to exclude other causes for symptoms such as anaemia or an underactive thyroid gland. This will be discussed in full at the consultation. Some women also request bloods as part of an overall health check and this can be arranged.
The cost of bloods is in addition to the consultation fee.
